Incubation Centre

The Geethanjali College of Pharmacy has identified the need of establishing the Incubation and Innovation Centre at its well-resourced campus and is in process of developing the same. The proposed incubation centre shall nurtures innovation and encourages entrepreneurial talents among students, faculty and people of the region. It shall facilitates inter-disciplinary research and provides incubation facilities to start ups and budding entrepreneurs.

Aim of this incubation centre is, “To encourage the students and faculty members with innovative ideas and develop these ideas into commercial products and bridging the gap between Industry and Academia”. At the same time support will be given to protect the ideas of the students and scientists as patents.

Incubation Centre is a space for new age entrepreneurs and young minds to transform their innovative ideas into viable business propositions. Our primary vision is to facilitate a platform for a budding entrepreneur to start a business venture with minimum risks. Incubation will ensure that incubates have access to technological assistance which will be generated through mentors with multidisciplinary expertise. We encourage young enthusiasts with creative pursuits with an inherent zeal to be entrepreneurs to take advantage of this novel initiative.

The mission of Incubation Centre is to nurture and empower the next generation entrepreneurs to serve the local problems. The students, alumni of Geethanjali College of Pharmacy and faculty can come up with their ideas which might lead to the startup.

• Main objective is to promote and establish world class incubation centres in Pharmacy sector - such as manufacturing, health and education etc.

• Provides seed fund to transform an idea into a product
• Arranges workshops for students and faculty in the field of entrepreneurship
• Help with the patenting process
• Aims to generate patentable ideas every year

Activities will be conducted round the year to motivate the young brains for innovative ideas and solutions to existing healthcare and pharmaceuticals related problems. The generated ideas will be mentored in the incubation centre to convert it in to a start-up. The incubation centre facilities can also be extended to support the small and medium scale healthcare industry for bringing solution to their day to day problems.

1. To encourage Entrepreneurship and innovation and incubation of ideas.
2. Each project will be executed by a team of entrepreneurs (students/alumni/ faculty/Industry)
3. Each project will be given infrastructural support such as workspace, internet etc.
4. The program will cater to the projects that solve problems and find solution to local needs (district and state) rather than global problems and needs.
5. The problem can be from pharmacy/health care sector but one should provide solution to the selected problem.
6. To facilitate the students to get internships through the companies which are under incubation.

The process of Selection is detailed under Selection Process. Application may have the following details: Name of the Applicant, his address, Telephone, email id and complete educational background and experience details of all the promoters team. A brief idea about the technology and business, type of research or development assistance needed, availability of start-up capital, services expected from GCPK and declaration that the details shared are not any trade or commercial secret.

Admission to the Incubation centre is open to:
• Faculty and Staff (Current) including Adjunct faculty
• Students (Current and Alumni <2 years)

A panel of experts will process the applicants, interview the promoters and select the ventures for incubation after carefully evaluating the business idea, market availability, potential value, growth prospects, innovative content and promoter team. The panel will consist of experienced and qualified professionals from specific industry and academicians of repute.

• Applications will be accepted semi-annually in February and August.
• Screening by GCPK-IC Committee (Proposals are examined with attention to financial, technical and social impact parameters)
• Approval by Incubation committee
• Agreement executed to formally commence incubation at GCPK-IC
• Incubation support is normally offered for 1 year. Extensions will be subject to approval as applicable.
• Decisions regarding approval of application or further extension to tenure will be made on a case -by -case basis by the GCPK-IC committee.
• The candidate must give monthly updates to the governing team of the GCPK-IC.
